The Optos Monaco combines two highly advanced technologies that allows us to view the retinas at the back of your eyes extremely thoroughly – often without the need for dilating drops!
Ultra-wide field images provide a full view of your retinas for enhanced monitoring of peripheral problems (retinal holes, tears, bleeding, etc), while the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technology provides an in-depth scan of your central vision (called the “macula”) and optic nerve.
We review the images with each patient during their Vision Wellness Assessment so you can see how healthy the back of your eyes are in detail!
Inspired Eyes Optometry is one of the few practices offering macular pigment testing. The MP Eye is an essential part of our Vision Wellness Assessments, as it evaluates your level of natural defences against long-term exposure to violet-blue light and oxidative damage. If antioxidant levels in your rentinas are low your central vision may be more at risk of poor visual quality such as reduced contrast sensitivity and difficultry recovering from bright lights. It can also indicate an increased risk for age-related eye disease leading to vision loss. Identifying this as early as possible allows us to help increase your antioxidant levels over time via our Macular Nutrition Program.
